Mark of the day!

Yesterday two teenagers were on the brink of drowning until a pedestrian came to the rescue. Both teenagers are hospitalized but recovering.

Two teenagers, both 15, Alan and Tony, were fishing at the pier on a fine day. However an unexpected wave hit the pier and took Tony down with it. Alan rashly jumped into the water trying to save Tony but he also was taken by the current.

Joy Revel was passing by with her boyfriend, Mark, when they saw the needy teenagers. Mark heroically jumped in the water and saved the two. It was a close call. Mark showed the sign of a true hero by asking not to make any fuss about this.

“I haven’t seen him [Mark] since to thank him but I owe him my life” said Tony.

Mark’s mother commented that she’s very proud of Mark and that he’s done these courageous acts before; he once saved a cat from a burning building.

The community, thanks to Mark’s act of heroism, is now raising issues about the lack of safety of the pier. It was thanks to Mark that no life was lost and such accidents can be avoided from now on. Mark certainly qualifies to be our community’s proud symbol.
